New Wave music history: when did it start? Ask ten music fans, and you will get ten different answers. The definition of New Wave is something that has never been agreed upon, with some people labeling nearly every band from the early 80s New Wave, while other die hard New Wave fans are sure the term only means their favorite bands. New Wave music history might be a hard story to tell, but the long lasting legacy of New Wave means that no one is going to stop trying any time soon.

Tears for Fears are an English pop/rock band formed in Bath in 1981 by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. Tears for Fears rose to prominence with their multi-platinum second album, Songs From the Big Chair, followed in 1989 by the equally-successful Sowing the Seeds of Love.

Aztec Camera was the brainchild of Roddy Frame, a Scottish songwriter and vocalist whose precocious talent — he was still in his teens when the band cut their acclaimed debut album, High Land, Hard Rain — earned the band a loyal cult following. With Frame’s knack for catchy, upbeat melodies and wordplay that often invited comparisons to Elvis Costello, Aztec Camera became a major critical favorite in the U.K. and the U.S., even as the band went through frequent personnel changes.
